Alumni Award Nominations

The Eckerd College Alumni Association

is seeking nominations for the 2010 Alumni Awards.

Do you know an alumna/us who is a dedicated volunteer, has an outstanding career or has achievement in service? If so, please let us know!

Nominations for the 2010 awards must be received by September 1, 2010.
Awards will be presented during Alumni Weekend 2010.

Outstanding Young Alumnus or Alumna Award

To be awarded to a young alumna/us (defined as a graduate of the last decade) who has shown great promise and accomplishment in his or her chosen profession and/or community, public or humanitarian service. Recipients of this award are not excluded from consideration for further College awards.

The Triton Service Award

To be awarded to an alumna/us who has rendered outstanding volunteer service to Eckerd College in any area. The recipient will have shown commitment as a volunteer to the College. Recipients of this award are not excluded from consideration for further College awards.

The Suzanne Armacost Alumni Medal for Outstanding Community Service

To be awarded to an alumna/us who has demonstrated a clear commitment to serving a larger community through notable volunteerism, an outstanding act of selflessness or a pattern of service to humanitarian efforts and/or causes. While this definition would certainly include service to Eckerd College, it would not exclude service to others.

Suzanne Armacost passed away on February 8, 1991, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to all who knew her. She was married to former President Peter Armacost and was the mother of four. Her presence and strength were felt on campus and in the community. This award is dedicated to her legacy.

The William H. Kadel Alumni Medal for Outstanding Career Achievement

To be awarded to an alumna/us who has demonstrated a clear commitment to excellence in one’s career. This alumna/us, through his or her career, has received public recognition or demonstrated achievement or leadership that positively reflects the College’s vision.

In 1958, William H. Kadel helped found Florida Presbyterian College and then served as President from 1958 to 1968. This was his proudest career achievement until his death on October 14, 1991. William H. Kadel’s mission was to prepare outstanding leaders for every aspect of life. This award is dedicated to his vision.

The McArthur Alumni Award

To be awarded to an alumna/us who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in each of the following four areas:

§         career or profession;

§         service to Eckerd;

§         service to church; and

§         service to the community.

This award was established by the Board of Trustees to honor the memory of Charles McArthur, a Trustee of the College from 1967 until his death in June 1973 and Chairman of the Board from 1971 to 1973. He made possible the McArthur Gymnasium.

Nomination Guidelines

All alumni may be nominated for any of the five awards of excellence; however, an alumna/us may be honored with only one award in any given year.

Please fill the form out entirely. An incomplete form may result in an unsuccessful nomination.
